1979 Porsche 911SC Targa 3.0

1979 Porsche 911SC Targa 3.0

If you're looking for a low mileage, show quality 911 SC, STOP reading this post NOW! This is not that car. However, if you're looking for a very nice driver quality SC with a few miles on her this may be your Porsche.
Plus....it's priced RIGHT! Probably one of the lowest priced air-cooled 911's available in this condition. It's an older repaint in the original Burgundy Metallic (paint code 436). Overall the paint is in very nice shape with a brilliant gloss but it does have a few minor nicks and blems as you would expect from a 40 year old 911. The good news is that there is NO rust. At this point I certainly would not repaint her. Just drive and enjoy. The cork colored interior is exceptional. Seats are near perfect with only a minor amount of wear on the drivers side bolster. Carpet and trim present well and are complimented with custom SC floor mats. Targa top skin is like new. All gauges and lights function as they should. Even the clock works.
The bulletproof 3.0 liter 911 engines are known as one of Porsche's best. It's not unusual to see 400K miles plus! This one has 234K miles and is running perfect. It has excellent oil pressure. There is NO SMOKE on cold start up or at any other time. A recent major service was performed and when the valves were adjusted there was no sign of pulled head studs. The engine is also quiet under load which confirms no head stud issues. There is a minor oil drip which is not desirable but IS somewhat typical. The asking price reflects an allowance for a potential repair for this in the future. Again, it's minor and you could simply drive it "as is" for a long time. This is a CA car and the engine also retains it's smog pump. A plus for West Coast buyers.

Transmission rebuilt 12K miles ago including complete clutch assembly.
Recent brake flush.
Brake calipers, pads, rotors and flex lines all like new.
Has recommended 3.0 upgrades (oil fed chain tensioners and air box pop off valve)
Recently installed Yokohama rubber
Jack, tools and workshop manual
Oil return tubes replaced
CV Joint boots replaced
Shift bushings replaced
Alternator, voltage regulator and belt replaced
16" Fuchs alloys in good condition
Drives true and straight and has a steady steering wheel when braking hard
Have receipts from the past 10 years (Original California owner is deceased and his records are lost)

No A/C
1 dash crack
Front chin spoiler has flaws
Bilstein shocks are soft
Minor oil leak already mentioned

Overall a nice drivers car that looks very presentable and is ready to enjoy now. Entry price allows you to do improvements at your leisure or just leave it alone as your investment increases in value.
Has that wonderful hand built "ping" when the doors are closed (a high G note for you musicians)
